Bingo is Catstacular

Greetings Humans! I am Bingo and I live in California. Please join me for an extraordinary day out on my farm. I love to sniff the air and feel the new grass leaves between my toes. It's spring and there is no better time to be a cat!

Maybe I spoke too soon . . . Da da da dum... da da da dum.... (Sometimes I wish I had my own orchestra). There is a large brown animal in my creek. She is no stranger to our land. SHE is the largish puppy named Scout, who invaded our property about 9 months ago. I do not like her . . .

To begin with, Scout the dog sploshes and slops and slurps up water. She is very undignified and has awful manners. Then she likes to sneak my cat food when no one is guarding it because she is a thief. And WORST of all she likes to CHASE ME!

Oh, has she seen me yet? I sure hope not. The Tall Lady, my personal human, has been trying to train her to not chase us cats, but when she is not around the dog is accountable to no one. She likes to torment me. I don't think I can scratch her well enough to dissuade her pursuit. But I run faster than Scout the dog. She can NOT catch me!

Just to be on the safe side of the cat-dog relationship, I think I'll hightail it out of here in a fast but casual manner and hope for the best on higher ground. I am Bingo, The Mighty Adventurer, but even I have my limits.

OH NO!!!! She has spotted me! I must run . . . NOW!

The humiliation, the suffering, the embarrassment. I am shamed to call my self a cat. But I'd rather be a cat with all my fur than a cat in the mouth of the beastly dog. Woe is me.

Now that I have shown you how wimpy I am, I bet you won't believe that the Tall Lady wrote a children's picture book about me. It's called Bingo's Big Adventure. In this photo documentary I meet another scary cat on my farm, I climb a spectacular tree and I even chase a vicious rooster. Yep. I sulked along after that foul fowl until he spotted me . . . and then I . . . um . . . um . . . ran home to my human mommy the Tall Lady that is . . . So basically I am a "chicken" dressed in cat fur. But that is how cats survive is it not.

Well, I need to back down this tree some time soon and get myself in the house. That is, after the DOG leaves. Then I can retire for my much needed nap. Thanks for viewing my personal cat trauma.

Bye for now!

Bingo's Journal - The Tall Lady has Published my Book as an e-book too!

Hi Humans!

Good news for all the ebook parents out there. Bingo's Big Adventure is now available as an epub book and can be downloaded for an iPad or other electronic reading devices at ePubBud. The Tall Lady resisted this movement in children's books, but decided that it was probably in the best interest of kids if an option for an electronic version of my book was available. It's amazing to think that Bingo's Big Adventure, a fun children's picture book, can now be purchased electronically for an iPad at only $3.99 through:

ePub Bud - Logo

EPubBud is a great site where anyone can self publish their books and sell them on line! Other titles are available on the site to purchase for low fees.

Another exciting news item is that under the ePubBud title, a new cover is available for Bingo's Big Adventure. It's flashy and bright and shows me (Bingo) stalking Mr. D the intrepid rooster. . .

So parents can buy a great epub children's picture book or "iBook" with excellent reviews and be paperless in the rapidly advancing electronic world! Bingo's Big Adventure, a children's picture story, is downloadable for an iPad or iPhone, Nookcolor or for Literati/Kobo.

Thanks for visiting,
Bingo, The Mighty Adventurer

Bingo's Journal - The Winter Dulldrums

The sorrows of winter are filling me with raindrops and wet paws, wind chills and soaked fur. When I glance out the window I see moisture on the pane. It is raining again.

When I crack my cat's eyes from the deep sleep that binds me to the couch, I can barely discern the out door world through that rain streaked window.

Is there grass growing out there? Are there puddles? Have the rodents drowned in the rain soaked earth?

And as I open my eyes slightly wider I can see some of my territory more clearly. The old wagon wheels, the broken Radio Flyer wagon, the trees, the creek, and the fields beyond our fence.

But it is too much, much too much for a cat to take in on a day like this. Oh, the wind . . . Oh, the pounding rain . . . Oh, the cold . . . Oh, the wetness. The warmth of a pillow cushion snuggling me into dreamland is all I need. I can help it no longer. I am a cat who needs to sleep.

Until the storm clouds clear, until the creek recedes, until the grass dries, and until I can unwind from my ball of sleep and see clearly through the window . . . I will be as one with the couch.

"Winter" in cat language means "sleeeeeep . . . "

Bingo's Journal-Cat's DO Like the Water

It's been raining a lot around here! And there suddenly appeared a ribbon of water flowing across my field. I heard the Tall Lady call it a seasonal creek. I call it wet.

But I've discovered that even though I am a cat, I can walk through water without melting.

See!! I am like a Bengal tiger crossing a channel. If this creek was deeper I think I could handle swimming through it . . . just so long as I can dry off on the Tall Ladies bed.

The water isn't very deep. In fact it barely touched my knees. Well if I have to be truthful, because I am a cat my legs aren't very long. But I can say that I am a cat who can walk through about three inches of water!

And I could get into a great spot for a drink! The water is clean and fresh and flowing. That is the best kind of water for sipping. Cats like to drink from these nice streams.

But . . . I just want to make sure no one saw me out here. I know we cats are not supposed to "like" water and I don't want to ruin our reputation. I hope the Tall Lady is inside the house. She does not need to see me walking in the creek water.

Well it seems the coast is clear! I better go back to looking for rodents now. Or maybe I can find a deeper spot to test my swimming skills. Hmmmm . . .

Bingo's Journal - Merry Christmas Bingo Style

A few weeks ago this tree with sparkly-dangley things showed up at my house. I thought trees were only supposed to be outside but apparently I was wrong! Even though we like to think so, cats don't know everything right?

The humans have been talking about something called Christmas. They've been wrapping and preparing and baking and doing lots of things I don't understand. I've been doing a lot of resting on the couch with a look of annoyance in preparation for this event . . .

I don't get all this hoopla about Christmas. I was thinking it was pretty boring, too.

But then last night while I was sniffing at some ribbons, I found my friend, Lucky, under the tree. Or rather HE found ME under the tree. Now that was something to get excited about! Cats are supposed to gather under the tree to play with presents right?

I thought there was the real potential for fun. I had visions of knocking over the tree or batting ornaments with Lucky's help. As an ambassador for cats I must endorse playing with things that I am not supposed to. Now things were starting to happen!!

I was all set to paw and pounce on Lucky when suddenly he needed to lick his paw. He was mumbling about stepping in chocolate and had to clean his fur.

Well, that was the extent of my Christmas fun . . . *sigh*

I am hoping for my own roll of ribbon next year. Can a cat ask for ribbon for Christmas? I sure hope so.

Until then . . . Merry Christmas!
